HISTORY of G Brad McKee and Buggy Stuff
Born the son of Eddie and Shirley McKee in Tama, Iowa, Brad was introduced the
to horse world very early, Eddie being quite the "horse trader" of the
time. Brad began riding and showing horses at a very young age, earning the
National Reserve Champion Driving Pony award from the National Pinto Association
in 1971. G Brad trained and exhibited many different horses in regional horse
shows, at the time, concentrating on reining and cutting horses. He became
interested in the harness and driving aspect in the early 80's,even farmed with
horse for a time, and was soon training both draft and light horses,
specializing in the driving and harness horse. This soon evolved in to a
"horse trading" business, with many of the horses being sold to the
New England area, as well as the Amish in Lancaster, Pa. where he became quite familiar
and close with many Amish families Many of the customers that wanted to
drive their horse had little knowledge of the harness, vehicles, and
appointments that were available. This prompted us to start carrying a selection
of the parts necessary to build and repair the many buggies and carts that folks
had, but weren't sure how to make useable again.Starting as "Horse and
Buggy Business", G Brad provided carriage and buggy parts, as well as
harness and appointments to many venues, including the Waverly Midwest Horse
Sale, The Villa Louis Carriage Classic, The Midwest Horse Fair, and many others.
In 1993, G Brad moved to Drakesville, Iowa, where he bought a building in the
middle of Iowa's Amish country, and established Buggy Stuff.
In 2003, he opened Amish Corners. He still remains very close with the Amish in
the area, and has written many articles about their way of life.
